Premier Plain Bearings

DX™ is firmly established as the premier, marginally lubricated, plain-bearing material. It is designed for marginally lubricated operation where continuous oil lubrication is uneconomic or inappropriate. It is particularly suited to oscillating, frequent stop-start and high-load/low-speed conditions.

DX is of composite structure with a porous bronze layer bonded to a steel backing and lined with an acetal co-polymer bearing surface. The steel backing provides the underlying strength, while the bronze interlayer provides a strong mechanical bond for the polymer lining and dimensional stability.

Acetal co-polymer has the ability to operate with the merest trace of lubricant present. To extend the lubricant life, the standard bearing has lubricant reservoir indentations in the lining surface that provide lubricant where it is needed. In many applications, the initial lubrication will last the life of the mechanism. GGB's handbook provides easy-to-follow calculations to enable designers to predict the bearing life and relubrication intervals.

DX is available as bushes, thrust washers and flat strip in imperial and metric sizes. Bushes are designed to be press-fitted into the housing, providing a compact assembly and avoiding the bulky and often expensive housings required by rolling contact bearings.
